After obtaining my Bachelors of Applied Science (Hons) in Child Studies from the University of Guelph my career began as a Case Worker for Scarborough General Hospital and later Durham Family Services and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Canada. Working in these various organisations helped to equip me with the educational foundation and training to provide individual, group and family support. Working in international schools as a social-emotional counsellor for 22 years allowed me to help those from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Supporting families, children & teens who were battling issues in transition, anxiety, self-harm, gender identity, grief, parenting, trauma and family challenges.

I am a life-long learner and continue acquiring skills in the field of social work and psychotherapy. I have a Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology and Education from the University of British Columbia. I trained with the University of Canterbury, UK to become a Therapeutic Play therapist. In 2019 I obtained a Graduate Certification as a Sexual Health Educator through the faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine with the University of Alberta and following that certification I completed Intensive Training in Sex Therapy at the University of Guelph. I also have a Post-Graduate Certification in Trauma Counselling with Wilfred Laurier University.

In addition to my clinical and organisation work as a registered social worker and psychotherapist, I am also a trainer and educator. I have qualified extensively for crisis and suicide prevention and response with PREPaRE and am competent in applying Cognitive Behavioural Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS). I have presented and spoken at numerous events, workshops and conferences to a variety of audiences including parents and leadership teams. My presentations to educators include the IB Regional Conference, East Asia Counsel of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) counsellor’s conference, Asia-Pacific International School Conferences and the Ontario School Counsellors Association conference. Most recently, I partnered with Black Mental Health Canada to offer a Canada-wide, online, 10-week Supporting Black Mothers Workshop.
